Costa: No Atleti return offer

Chelsea striker Diego Costa rejected speculation he could return to Atletico Madrid. ‘How can I go back if no one has made an offer?’

Costa has been linked with re-joining his former team after the Premier League champions stuttered at the start of the season, and the Spain international was criticised for his lack of goals, but did net on Wednesday against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

“How am I going to return to Atletico if no one has made me an offer?” he asked when the subject was raised on Al Primer Toque, AS reports.

“I scored a good goal [against Maccabi] but we needed to win and that’s what matters.

“We know we can give a little more than we are. Each one of us knows that we can do more. We thought things would be better.”

Costa also touched on former Atletico goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is on the sidelines with a long-term injury.

“It’s a great loss. Not only as a goalkeeper but as a person. He can help us from outside,” Costa said of his Chelsea teammate.
