Vela ‘thought about leaving La Real’

Carlos Vela confirms he had ‘several options’ to leave Real Sociedad over the summer and admits he had ‘doubts’ about staying.

Vela not only acknowledged the opportunity to leave Anoeta but suggested it was something he was interested in doing.

“There are options in every window and this summer was the most options, but it didn’t happen and here we are,” the forward is quoted as saying by AS.

“The market has closed and the only thing I can do is try to do well for La Real and work to help the team however I can.

“I thought [about leaving]. You appreciate the interest, so of course I thought about it. I’m committed. I will give my best for La Real.

“The United States? There were several options. The truth is, it was interesting to me to be close [to Mexico] and that makes you re-think what you want but it didn’t happen and I’m still here.

“I talked to the President, as always when I have options and doubts, and different things, and I still keep in contact and talk with him.

“I didn’t tell him I was going to leave, or I won’t play, but it’s clear that I spoke with him.

“I’m here until January, when you never know what can happen. There’ll be options, then or next summer, and I don’t know what will happen.”
