Casillas aiming for CL final

Iker Casillas hopes his 17th Champions League season delivers another final as the Porto goalkeeper stands on the brink of a competition record.

An appearance in Porto’s group opener against Dynamo Kiev would make Casillas the Champions League’s record appearance-holder, level with Xavi Hernandez’s 151.

“I don’t know if I’ll play, so I don’t know if I’ll equal Xavi,” Casillas said, AS reports, when the prospect of the record was raised.

“Last season Porto reached a very high level, going face-to-face with Bayern Munich. We always want to win and go far. The goal isn’t to get out the group stage.

“It’s a new challenge and I want to get to the final at the San Siro, but there are very strong teams.

“Less pressure than at Madrid? There’s always pressure, all players feel it. It would be bad if you didn’t. You might as well watch the game on TV then.”
