Diego Simeone believes scoring early was crucial to Atletico Madrid’s win over Galatasaray, Antoine Griezmann getting a brace.
Griezmann in fact plundered both goals before the half-hour mark and Cholo said after the match that the tie was effectively over there and then.
“The team had a very good first half. We surprised then with Griezmann, Luciano Vietto and Jackson Martinez in attack and we stressed the containment of the midfield,” the Coach commented, AS reports.
“The early minutes were very good. We scored so we could play with more calmness for the rest of the game.
“We played well against Sevilla, and it cost us more against Las Palmas. We didn’t play well against Barcelona. The players play according to how the Coach decides.”
