Raul Garcia scored on his Athletic Bilbao debut in Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Getafe but maintained “the most important thing is that the team won”.
The midfielder, a €10m arrival from Atletico Madrid on transfer-deadline day in August, netted Los Leones’ second of the afternoon as his new employers moved off the bottom of La Liga and into the top half.
“The most important thing is that the team won,” he told Movistar Plus after the game.
“When the team do well, everyone benefits. I’m happy for the goal but more so for the victory.
“We wanted to come out strong and press, and we understood what the game asked of us.
“We got the first job done. Augsburg are a bigger threat than what their name suggests.
“We’ll rest and then prepare for the match [against Augsburg] with confidence and look to take another step forward.”
