‘La Real need to change mentality’

David Moyes has suggested that Real Sociedad must change their mentality ahead of Saturday’s trip to Real Betis in La Liga.

La Real have begun the season with two draws and no goals scored or conceded, and the Scot believes it is vital that his side show a greater willingness to win rather than avoiding defeat if they want to enjoy success under his leadership.

“We played well against Deportivo and Sporting,” he said at a Press conference.

“They were positive experiences because we played well and didn’t concede. We just need to score.

“[Diego] Reyes has just returned [from international duty] so we have to assess how he’s doing with his jetlag.

“[On Inigo Martinez’s absence], we have [Jon] Ansotegi and Mikel [Gonzalez] to take his place.

“The fans and atmosphere at the stadia of the newly-promoted sides are tremendous.

“They’re very tough opponents as they have momentum and enthusiasm [from last season].

“Betis have strengthened further with the likes of [Rafael] van der Vaart, [Ricky] van Wolfswinkel and Joaquin.

“Every game away from Anoeta has been difficult in recent seasons for Real Sociedad.

“We’ll try to score and stop them from doing the same to us. We have to win away if we want to succeed.

“Draws are good but a win is worth three of them. I’m insisting that the players improve their physical and mental condition.

“When we score, we must try to do so again. We must change our mentality from not losing to winning.”
