Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano could face legal proceedings after reportedly failing to pay tax on his image rights in 2011 and 2012.
According to El Pais, the Argentine refused to declare two lots of image rights to the tune of €1.5m, although he is believed to have covered the outstanding balance on the recommendation of his lawyers.
Nonetheless, the newspaper claims prosecutors are still intent on taking the former Liverpool and River Plate man to court and issuing him with the minimum sentence as opposed to paying out compensation.
Barca are currently involved in a tax case of their own, with Neymar's controversial transfer from Santos in 2013 still unresolved, while Lionel Messi is to face trial over an alleged €4.1m tax fraud.
