Del Bosque considering Spain changes

Vicente Del Bosque could field a much-changed Spain side in Tuesday night’s Euro 2016 qualifier with Macedonia.

The Coach confirmed the changes from Saturday’s win over Slovakia, citing the short turnaround between fixtures as the reason.

“I’m thinking about making changes against Macedonia,” he told a Press conference, Marca reports.

“We’ve had barely any time to recover. I don’t know how many changes there might be. We have to make use of our squad and we have faith in everyone. We’ll see that against Macedonia.”

Marca suggests elsewhere that Dani Carvajal, Marc Bartra, Santi Cazorla, Isco and Paco Alcacer are in line to play.

The trainer moved on to discuss the issue of Gerard Pique being booed when playing for Spain, asking that the practice end sooner rather than later.

“I hope the whistles stop. He’s been exemplary in his 70 games for the national team,” Del Bosque said of the Barcelona defender.

“We must not fear anything. I am concerned that it will be hard to stop. We need to remember that this is a football team.”

Del Bosque appeared on Al Primer Toque later on Monday and added regarding the Pique issue that, in his opinion, it’s not related to the centre-back’s alleged political stance.

“I think the whistles are more about the Barca-Real Madrid rivalry,” he explained.

Del Bosque also revealed that the decision to move England’s visit to Spain, in November, from Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu to Alicante isn’t one that has been taken recently.

“I’ve known for weeks that the game in November would, if we qualified, be played there,” he confirmed.

Del Bosque concluded by touching on the David De Gea situation, the goalkeeper not having played for Manchester United this season as he pushed for a move to Madrid.

“If he’s here it’s because we think he could play and he’s fit,” Del Bosque insisted.

“Otherwise he wouldn’t be here. We trust in those who are here and we want to maintain an important group.”
