United hit back at ‘clumsy’ Madrid

Manchester United have hit back at Real Madrid in the David de Gea saga by claiming they “seem intent to move the focus away from their own clumsiness”.

Florentino Perez reignited the war of words between the two clubs, who both issued statements of defence in wake of the goalkeeper's proposed move to the Santiago Bernabeu breaking down, by branding the Red Devils' conduct a “disgrace” on Thursday.

“The facts speak for themselves. The FA are prepared to back our case that documents were in on time,” United told the Associated Press.

“Real seem intent to move the focus away from their own clumsiness this summer.

“We all like to blame others but if you let one slip through your fingers into the back of the net, then ultimately the culpability is yours.”
