‘Pique & Ramos the world’s best’

Marc Bartra believes Spain possess the world's best centre-back pairing in Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique ahead of Slovakia in Euro 2016 qualifying on Saturday.

The 24-year-old has been named in Vicente del Bosque's latest squad, despite being the Catalans' fourth-choice option in central defence following the re-emergence of Thomas Vermaelen, but he has vowed to do all he can to keep his place in the team.

“I'm very happy to be here. I'm where I want to be. It's a dream to be with the Spanish national team,” he said at a Press conference on Thursday.

“We're ready to win the match in Oviedo. They scored two goals on the counterattack against us [in the first match], so we'll try to stifle them. The longer we have the ball, the better.

“Both Pique and Ramos are the best centre-backs in Europe and the world.

“Gerard hasn't played much lately and may lack rhythm, but we'll be fine.”

Spain's second match of the international break comes in the form of a trip to Macedonia on Tuesday.
