Navas ‘wants new Madrid deal’

Keylor Navas will reportedly look to exploit the breakdown of David De Gea’s move to Real Madrid by asking for a new contract.

Navas was supposed to go to Manchester United in return but the operation collapsed on Monday, deadline day in Spain.

Sport reports that Navas has been given permission by Costa Rica to remain in Spain a little longer and clarify his position with his club.

Navas is said to realise Madrid now rely on him as they only have Kiko Casilla as an alternative and he can strengthen his position with a new contract.

United would also have increased Navas’ salary and he may ask for Madrid to match their offer as he has been left out of pocket through no fault of his own.

Navas’ move to Manchester was so close, Sport add, that he was waiting with his wife and his agent in a private plane bound for England.

He was only waiting for the documents to confirm the move was going ahead, and was to travel to England for a medical, which ultimately never happened.
