‘We want Neymar to retire at Barca’

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu says the club want Brazil forward to Neymar to spend the rest of his career at Camp Nou.

Bartomeu appeared on RAC1 to discuss La Blaugrana and, with Neymar both in line for a new contract and the case investigating his transfer on the news agenda, the President was asked about the player.

“There’s no fixed date [for a contract renewal] but we want Neymar to retire at Barca,” he said, AS reports.

“People didn’t like that Neymar was signing for Barca to be part of the best forward line in the world. He plays for us, and that’s important.

“The first case is already in Barcelona. We’ll see what happens with the second one. I’m not tired of my name being spoken about. I want to defend Barca and the important thing is the work and the performance of Neymar. I don’t want everything that’s said to affect him.”
