Ramos: Navas should be calm

Keylor Navas needs to keep calm and trust in himself, according to Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, after his near-move to Manchester United.

Navas was the other half of the David De Gea to Madrid operation that collapsed on transfer deadline day.

The Costa Rica international had started the season as Rafa Benitez’s first choice, only for Los Blancos to make a late move for De Gea, leading some to speculate Navas’ position is untenable after Madrid so publically tried to replace him.

“Madrid have two great goalkeepers,” Ramos said, Marca reports, upon joining up with the Spain squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers.

“I can’t say anything about a player who doesn’t play for Madrid. That would be disrespectful [to Navas and Kiko Casilla].

“I’m happy with the players we have. Keylor must be calm. He’s played and he felt the affection of the fans against Real Betis.

“Someone who isn’t with Madrid [De Gea] isn’t someone I have an opinion on.

“Madrid are on the right path. There is still room for improvement and progress. We hope to keep this good line and lose the least possible points. We’re on the right track.”
