Nuno rues Valencia bad luck

Nuno Santo claimed Valencia faced another “man-of-the-match goalkeeper” following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga.

Los Che dropped points for the second successive game as Alvaro Negredo could only cancel out Lucas Perez's opening goal, but the Coach insisted his side did everything they possibly could to find the winner.

“It was a game of two distinct halves,” he said after the game.

“The first half wasn't good, despite the goal. In the second, we searched [for the winner] and were in control.

“We had many chances but were once again facing a goalkeeper who was man-of-the-match.

“We searched for the winner in every way possible but couldn't find it.

“[On rotating his team], all decisions ahead of the match were pre-determined and played by players who prepared accordingly.

“[On replacing goalscorer Negredo with Paco Alcacer], every change a Coach makes is for the good of the team.

“The fans always want us to play for the win, play well and enjoy themselves and that's what we must work on improving so the fans can enjoy themselves again.

“The demands are mutual, Mestalla wants the best from the team and want us to win.

"Now we must find points at other stadia. It's a long season, but we know we have to improve and grow.

“We considered this match a must-win and this result forces us to go to Gijon for the three points.

“[On new boy Aymen Abdennour], he's a player who we think can bring many good things to the squad.”
