‘Valencia focused on La Liga’

Nuno Santo insists Valencia’s focus is on playing Deportivo La Coruna, not thinking about their impending Champions League campaign.

Valencia last week reached the competition’s group stage and were drawn with Zenit St Petersburg, Lyon and Gent.

“We’ve had time to recover [from the play-off second leg with Monaco] and we’ll be in good condition,” the Coach promised, AS reports.

“We win games and score points in the League, we remember that. It’s the League that qualifies you for other competitions.

“Deportivo are a dangerous team and we must be focused because they’re good in transitions. We are focused on getting three points.”

Nuno, who on Saturday saw Aymen Abdennour added to his squad, did touch on the Champions League draw.

“There are no guarantees. There’s a lot of quality in all those teams, but it’s not the most complicated group,” he considered.

“They are rivals of the highest quality and it would be a mistake thinking it’s already done. Our goal is to grow without limits so we’re more prepared every day, without losing our humility and respect for the opponent.”
