Thomas Vermaelen thanks Luis Enrique for giving him the chance to prove himself after scoring in Barcelona’s win over Malaga.
Vermaelen got the only goal of the game and is getting a run in the team after injuries ruined his first year at Camp Nou.
“I’m happy to score my first goal and that it gave the team three points,” he said, Marca reports.
“Last year was difficult for me and it’s important the Coach has given me these two games. I’m happy for that.
“Most people don’t see how we work in training. Also, last year I couldn’t show what I can offer.”
Vermaelen was also asked about his muted goal celebration, and revealed there was nothing untoward about it.
“I’m not used to scoring goals! I hadn’t a celebration prepared,” he admitted.
