Marcelino has claimed that Villarreal, while close, are still not “where I want them to be” following Friday's 3-1 victory over Espanyol in La Liga.
The Yellow Submarine headed into the final half-hour at El Madrigal one down, but goals from new boys Roberto Soldado [pictured, right] Cedric Bakambu saw the side complete a late fightback.
“Espanyol went ahead during our worst spell of the match, since we were blockaded in the first half,” he told Onda Cero after the game.
“I saw a Villarreal side who were close to where I want them to be, but there's still plenty to do.
“Signing seven new players is a lot, so our team chemistry still isn't at an optimal level.
“[On his dismissal against Real Betis], it's easy to send me off, I see the behaviour of other Coaches and they don't get punished like me.
“[On the Europa League draw], we consider it a good draw but barely know the teams.”
