Neymar: I love football, but…

Barcelona star Neymar admits, despite wanting to make history during his playing career, he is “not the type of person who thinks about football 24/7”.

Speaking at a promotional event for Nike, the Brazilian displayed his softer side as he covered topics such as his relationship with family and friends, life away from the pitch and greatest sources of inspiration.

“Before taking to the field, nothing special passes through my mind,” he assured.

“I'm not the type of person who thinks about football 24/7. I change,go to warm up, ask God to bless me and say 'here we go' to myself.

"I want to get into the history books. I hope [my career] is remembered as something beautiful and full of not only personal success, but also in terms of the collective.

“I'm a happy guy who always tries to make time for my family, friends and the people who support me.

“I try to always have fun, not only on the pitch but also off it. My favourite hobby besides football is being with my family, friends and son. Being around them is most important to me.

“[My parents] are people who I've always respected and admired, and, of course, I'm still learning a lot from them.”
