Celta want to extend Nolito contract

Celta Vigo President Carlos Mourino has revealed the club intend to extend the contract of Barcelona target Nolito.

Mourino has spoken to the Vigo Press and the subject of Nolito came up, with Mourino insisting there has been no contact from Barca regarding the forward, who has said he would only leave if his €18m clause is met.

“It’s a gesture that demonstrates his commitment to Celta,” Mourino said, Faro de Vigo reports.

“He is very calm and excited thinking we can reach Europe.

“There’ll be an adjustment to his contract and we’re happy to get rid of the €18m clause. The idea is to extend his contract for more years and increase the clause.”

Mourino also commented on the status of the squad with which Eduardo Berizzo is working, and the desire to blood more home-grown players.

“We’ll be the youngest team in the League. For us that means a lot,” he considered.

“If such a young team can get a good ranking then that will be a good omen for the future.

“We want the players from the cantera to compete with the first team players. That’s our priority and we will continue on that path.”
