Neymar Sr stalling on contract?

Neymar’s father is reportedly in no rush to renew his son’s Barcelona contract, but will sit down with the club eventually.

Marca reports La Blaugrana recognise it is time to offer the Brazil international fresh terms after a successful few years at Camp Nou.

Neymar Sr is content to wait a while longer amid rumoured interest from Manchester United, who are said to be willing to pay the forward’s €190m release clause.

Barca will make Neymar their second-highest paid player, behind Lionel Messi, an improvement on his current position which sees him trail Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta and Dani Alves.

Neymar’s contract is structured differently to most others, however, as it is heavily-incentivised, with Neymar due bonuses for trophies won and games played.

It is though guaranteed at €10.5m a year, even if the total isn’t met by the bonuses – Barca would be obliged to make up the difference in that instance.

Neymar has recently been out of action with mumps but is back in training, working to a special plan to boost his fitness, and should be involved this weekend against Malaga.
