Inter or Monaco for Coentrao

Fabio Coentrao is expected to leave Real Madrid and will sign for either Serie A Inter or Ligue 1 Monaco.

Marca reports the left-back’s days are numbered at Santiago Bernabeu and his agent, Jorge Mendes, is looking for a new club for the Portugal international.

Madrid won’t replace Coentrao when he leaves, but will rather instruct Rafa Benitez to use Nacho, Alvaro Arbeloa or Danilo as back-up to Marcelo.

Coentrao was headed to Paris Saint-Germain but the French champions appear to have reached agreement with Monaco for Layvin Kurzawa.

He could replace Kurzawa at Monaco and appeared to favour France over Italy, but that was when it was for PSG.

Neither Monaco nor Inter can offer Champions League football but will both roughly meet Coentrao’s Madrid wages of €3.5m.
