Sevilla lead Madrid for Llorente

Sevilla and Real Madrid are both weighing up a move for Juventus’ Spain international striker Fernando Llorente but a move to Nervion looks more likely.

AS claims Sevilla did have an interest in West Ham’s Andy Carroll but Llorente is the first choice of the Champions League club, citing the Gazzetta Dello Sport as their source.

Juventus had been willing to keep Llorente and sell Simone Zaza to the Hammers, but Zaza has confirmed he wants to stay in Turin and fight for his place.

There is an agreement between Llorente and Sevilla and has been for more than a month, but the deal rests on an agreement between the clubs.

Juventus are now open to discussing Llorente’s exit and Unai Emery, who wanted Llorente from the start, may get his man.

Marca put the fee for Llorente at €10m, up from the €7m Sevilla originally offered but down from Juventus’ starting point of €12m, with the player signing a three or four-year contract.

Mundo Deportivo, however, add that Madrid haven’t ruled out signing a striker and Llorente is a name on their list of possibilities.

Rafa Benitez has publically backed Madrid’s decision not to add to Karim Benzema and Jese but privately wants a genuine striker in his squad.

There’s concern that a Benzema injury would leave Madrid light on options as Jese is a different kind of player.

Florentino Perez is, meanwhile, concerned by his team’s lack of goals and may agree to sign a striker as a result.

Perez is though concerned by the idea of signing a player who at Juventus is back-up to Alvaro Morata, who he sold, and believes the fans would be critical of the transfer and argue Madrid should have just kept Morata.

MD don’t believe Juventus will sell, but if Zaza is staying, the Serie A champions may have to move out Llorente regardless of the Coach’s wishes.
