Benitez reassures Madrid players

Rafa Benitez reportedly moved to reassure the Real Madrid squad that results will come if they continue to work hard.

Madrid were held to a goalless draw by newly-promoted Sporting Gijon in their first League game of the season after some patchy results in pre-season.

“I’m sure the goals will come. And if we maintain and improve our defensive security, the results will come soon too,” the trainer is quoted by Marca as saying to the squad.

Marca add that the mood of the squad wasn’t good following the draw at El Molinon but Benitez’s words did ease the tension.

The players are also thought to have agreed there is still work to be done, but that nine times out of 10, they would have beaten Sporting.
