Nuno Santo vows Valencia will give everything as they attempt to seal progress to the Champions League group stages in the play-off second leg against Monaco.
Los Che lead 3-1 from the first encounter and the Coach has explained how he and the team have been preparing for the return.
“The best exercise you can do in a game like this is to think about being on the other side and what we would do if we were 3-1 against,” Nuno said, AS reports.
“From there you know what you have to do so it is important to think we can and should go out and win the game.
“They have to find a goal and are more desperate than us to do so but we have to be organised to do well in attack and recovering the ball.
“We were very good in the first 30 minutes of the first leg. It was characterised by an important moment in which we lost control in the last 15 minutes of the half. Maybe I’d change that.
“The message is we will compete to the death for the fans. We can only say thank you and promise to give everything.”
Nuno went on to discuss Monaco and what reaching the group stage would mean for the club – and what elimination would mean as well.
“We’re not thinking about that. We’re only thinking about the other scenario. We’re very prepared and excited,” he insisted.
“The players know the importance of this match. We look to the future with optimism. We will fight with all our might to say we are a Champions League team and Mestalla can enjoy a continental showpiece.
“Monaco are a great team. They were close to the semi-finals last year and have virtually all the same players. They’re a high quality and they’re well-trained.
“It’s not just Anthony Martial. There are a lot more good players. We can’t only defend. The best form of defence is attack.
“[The Champions League is] another piece of the club. We started last year aware that Valencia is a Champions League team and we wanted to get there.
“We’re very close now but it doesn’t stop because whatever happens there will be new challenges.”
