Man Utd ‘offered €190m for Neymar’

Manchester United reportedly met Neymar’s €190m release clause and presented the offer directly to the Barcelona higher-ups.

AS cites a report from Brazilian publication Globoesporte that offers more information on speculation that had the Premier League club bidding for the Brazil international.

Sport meanwhile notes a report from England that says the total cost, should United sign Neymar, would he €326m, when tax and other fees were added to the €190m.

That figure also includes the €20m-a-year wages of the five-year deal reportedly offered to Neymar, who isn’t expected to accept the approach as he is happy in Catalonia.

AS adds that Neymar is so settled in his current surroundings that his ex-partner is expected to relocate to Spain so the player can be closer to his son.

Mundo Deportivo, however, dismisses the report of a United offer for Neymar, and say the only talks have been between United and an agent by the name of Wagner Ribeiro.

Ribeiro allegedly has little involvement in Neymar’s situation but does have a relationship with Neymar’s father, and even Ribeiro has confirmed Neymar’s intention is to stay with La Blaugrana.

MD add that it is most likely United have made the story of an approach for Neymar public as way of glossing over their failure to sign Pedro Rodriguez, who joined Chelsea.

Their report also insists Ed Woodward, the executive Vice-chairman of United, didn’t speak with anyone at Barca about Neymar during his recent visit, Pedro being the only topic of conversation.
