Ilarra set to rejoin La Real?

Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi is reportedly on the verge of completing a €15m return to Real Sociedad.

According to AS, negotiations between the two clubs have intensified over the last few hours, to the extent that an agreement is edging ever closer.

The transfer would see La Real make an initial outlay of €10-12m, with the remaining €3-5m likely to be paid once the midfielder plays a certain number of games.

Alternatively, a sell-on clause has been mooted, whereby Madrid would receive a significant percentage of any fee received by the Basques.

It is also understood that the deal will be called off if a rival European club come in with a bid higher than €15m, although neither side foresee such a scenario, despite reported interest from Liverpool and Juventus.

Regarding personal terms, the 25-year-old is not expected to receive the same €2.5m salary he earned at the Santiago Bernabeu in San Sebastian.

Illarramendi became the most expensive Spaniard in Madrid's history when he joined for €32.2m in the summer of 2013 but failed to truly convince as Xabi Alonso's successor.
