Moyes pleased with Depor point

David Moyes says he is pleased with the performance of his Real Sociedad players during Saturday's stalemate at Deportivo La Coruna.

Although La Real were ultimately unable to break down the Galicians' rearguard, the former Everton and Manchester United manager claimed his side left Riazor “feeling good about ourselves”.

“It was a good game to start off with. I'm happy with the performance of my players,” he said after the game.

“It was a tough game, we created chances and, although the objective was to get the three points, which we didn't get, a point against a good team [like Depor] leaves us feeling good about ourselves.

“[Carlos] Vela played well. There were doubts about his fitness and how he could manage the match, but there was never any about his ability.

“He didn't get any minutes during pre-season as he'd been playing for Mexico. It was important that he played an hour, but he played more because ultimately he was a threat to the opposition.

“[Vela and Jonathas] are good players and their understanding was good. They'll score goals for us, even though they didn't [on Saturday].

“We want to score goals and create chances, and today we had several [chances]. They offer different things to one another.

“[On his decision not to make substitutions until the final minutes] the team were doing well, so there wasn't any need to change things.”
