Alvaro Negredo has thanked the Valencia fans for their support, “even though last season wasn't one of my best campaigns”.
The former Manchester City and Sevilla striker scored just five goals in his debut campaign at Mestalla but impressed in his cameo against Monaco in the first leg of Los Che's Champions League playoff on Wednesday, which finished 3-1.
“[Against Monaco] I tried to respond to what the Coach asked of me,” he told reporters.
“I helped out in defence and offered presence in attack. I must seize the opportunities I receive.
“I must also thank the Mestalla faithful for continuing to support me, even though last season wasn't one of my best campaigns.
“We went forward to look for the second goal and were rewarded [for our courage].
“[Monaco] showed they can play and are a quick team, but we're going there to win.”
