Playing clause in Asensio’s loan move

A clause in Marco Asensio’s loan move to Espanyol form Real Madrid calls for the midfielder to play 30 games this season.

Asensio’s temporary switch to Cornella El-Prat is expected to be confirmed in the very near future after Espanyol beat off interest from a host of other clubs.

AS reports offers from Real Betis and Malaga would have been better financially for Madrid but it was felt Espanyol was the best club for Asensio’s development.

Espanyol will face a financial penalty if Asensio doesn’t play the stipulated number of games for technical reasons – if he isn’t chosen by Coach Sergio Gonzalez – but not if he is injured or suspended.

AS suggests Sergio will use Asensio on the right wing of a 4-2-3-1 formation and the contract for the move should be signed today after a verbal agreement on Wednesday.
