Marco Asensio is thought to be close to joining Espanyol on loan after he was left out of the Real Madrid squad for the Trofeo Santiago Bernabeu.
Asensio joins the injured group of Pepe, Karim Benzema, Fabio Coentrao and Raphael Varane and the not selected Lucas Silva and Martin Odegaard in skipping the Galatasaray game.
AS reports Madrid have declined to name the winger as they don’t want to risk an injury that would threaten his move to Cornella El-Prat.
It’s noted that Espanyol President Joan Collet suggested that when Madrid signed Kiko Casilla, he would look to take Asensio for a year in return.
