‘Sevilla turned down Valdes’

Sevilla reportedly rejected the chance to make a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes over the cost and their faith in Beto and Sergio Rico.

AS cites a report from Radio Sevilla that says though Valdes is in the long-term bound for MLS, he has been offered to a number of clubs in Europe.

Sevilla was one of them but felt they wouldn’t be able to match the financial package Valdes receives at Old Trafford, and weren’t in the market for a ‘keeper anyway, as there is confidence in Beto and Rico.

Beto is considered one of the most important players in the Sevilla locker room for his presence as much as his performances, the report notes.

Rico, meanwhile, helps Sevilla meet their home-grown quota and did well last year, having his contract renewed, as did Beto.
