Report: Joaquin agrees Betis return

Joaquin has reportedly agreed terms on a return to Real Betis and is only waiting for the Primera new boys to find agreement with Fiorentina.

AS cites a report from El Mundo that says the winger will reject an offer from the UAE to go back to Benito Villamarin, some nine years after he left for Valencia.

Fiorentina also offered a contract renewal to the 34-year-old but Joaquin has a financial agreement with Betis and wants to return to his first club.

Joaquin has met Betis half-way on his wages, it’s said, and with his contract at Fiorentina due to expire in 2016, it’s not thought the Italians would hold out for a large transfer fee.

Eduardo Macia, the Betis sporting director, was previously in a similar role at Fiorentina, and his contacts with his old club are also said to be a factor in smoothing the way for Joaquin to return.
