Madrid in De Gea ‘ultimatum’

Real Madrid have reportedly sent an ultimatum to Manchester United – accept their offer for David De Gea or lose him for nothing next year.

Sport cites a claim by ABC which says Los Blancos have offered €25m and €5m in bonuses for the Spain international and won’t go any higher, certainly not the €35m United were said to want.

De Gea’s contract expires in the summer of 2016 and he would be a free agent from them on. His agent Jorge Mendes is said to be trying to agree a deal with United to let his client go.

United manager Louis Van Gaal has suggested De Gea won’t play while the transfer window was open and he wasn’t even on the bench for the team’s Premier League season opening win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Keylor Navas’ future is also tied to De Gea as United have expressed interest in the Costa Rica custodian.

Van Gaal wanted Navas a year ago, when he joined Madrid from Levante, and Madrid have told United they can have him for the price they paid 12 months ago, some €10m.
