Henry on Pedro & Benzema pursuits

Thierry Henry has approved Manchester United and Arsenal’s respective pursuits of Barcelona winger Pedro Rodriguez and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Pedro is expected to join United before September 1 as a direct replacement for Paris Saint-Germain new boy Angel Di Maria, while reports continue to link the Gunners with a record-breaking move for Benzema.

“[Louis] van Gaal wants players who fit into the way he wants to play, that’s why he wants Pedro,” the former Barca attacker told talkSPORT.

“I’ve seen him at Barca, he was putting pressure on and staying out wide. He has it.”

On Benzema, Henry noted to Sky Sports: “Arsenal would win the league [if he joined them].

“I think if [they] get Benzema, not only will [they] challenge for the league, but [they will] also challenge for the Champions League.

“They need that type of striker who can be different to Olivier Giroud.

“He is very good at what he does but you need to have that type of striker who can stretch a defence, a guy that can go in behind.”
