Real Betis have completed the signing of former Hamburg defender Heiko Westermann on a free transfer.
The centre-back, 32, has put pen to paper on a two-year contract, with the option of a third year, at Benito Vilamarin and reacquaints himself with Rafael van der Vaart.
Betis’ official website has also announced that the player will be presented on Tuesday at 13:00 CET.
Westermann, a winner of 27 caps and four goals for his country, was part of the Germany squad who finished runners-up to Spain at Euro 2008.
He is expected to be joined by Juan Vargas, who has also agreed a two-year deal after leaving Fiorentina, according to Marca.
