Asensio: Madrid debut a dream

Marco Asensio was delighted after making his first Real Madrid appearance but admits he doesn’t know his short-term future.

The midfielder joined Madrid from Real Mallorca this summer in a transfer that was first agreed in the winter market, and is expected to be loaned out for the season, although his destination remains unknown.

“I talked to the Coach and he told me to be calm, just think about now, train and play well in these games, and decide from there,” Asensio said, Marca reports.

“I’m very happy. It’s a dream to debut with Madrid. Everyone has congratulated me. I feel good, a little tired, but I’ll pick up the competitive pace as I train and we play more games.

“I’m proud so many teams are interested in my possible transfer but as I said, now I just focus on Madrid and everything will be decided. I’ve come here to stay and I don’t expect anything else.

“On the pitch I’m just one player. I’m a player who takes risks and I hope things keep going well. There are a lot of players who can play as a No 10 but I’m versatile, and can also play as a forward, or wide.

“I’m getting to know my teammates little by little. I’m learning a lot from them and I hope to keep learning more.”
