Bale ‘comfortable’ in new role

Gareth Bale is so far enjoying the new role given to him in the Real Madrid team by Rafa Benitez, after scoring against Tottenham Hotspur.

Bale netted Madrid’s second goal against his former team as Los Blancos were victorious in their first Audi Cup match, next going on to play hosts Bayern Munich, the Welshman having played centrally under the new Coach.

“It’s great to have the confidence of everyone and hopefully I can repay it with trophies,” Bale said, Marca reports.

“I can go down the left, the right or through the middle. I feel comfortable in that position.”

Marca also notes comments from Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, who has discussed his client’s relationship with Florentino Perez as well as Benitez.

“Gareth had a conversation with Benitez and between them they will find an ideal position that suits them both,” he is quoted as saying.

“[Bale is] a great team player and wants to return the confidence the President has shown. He has a great respect for Perez.

“Perez likes Gareth a lot. He broke the transfer record to sign him and Bale also admires the President.”
