Cholo: 90 good minutes for Atleti

Diego Simeone was pleased with Atletico Madrid’s display against Shanghai SIPG, declaring the 3-0 win as borne of ’90 good minutes.’

Two goals from Antoine Griezmann and one from Fernando Torres gave Atletico a win to end their tour of Asia, and left the Coach impressed with what he saw.

“We’ve come on from the first game against Numancia. We played well for the 90 minutes,” said Simeone, according to AS.

“More than the different formations, we played well grouped, without losing order.

“We’re happy for the tour of Japan and of China, both for the game and the reception to our players. The atmosphere was very good and we continue to grow

“Now we want to go back to the lads who are training in Madrid and gradually start closing the squad and all train together.”

Speaking specifically about Griezmann and Torres, Cholo was pleased for the players to get the scoring touch as the season draws closer.

“Goals are important for all the forwards. They give the players confidence and make them more secure,” he added.

“Both Torres and Griezmann created significant situations. Scoring goals is healthy for what is ahead.

“I saw Torres well, as was the whole team. The whole team played a good game and the performance was steady from everyone.”
