Pedro to Man Utd ‘imminent’

Pedro Rodriguez could soon be a Manchester United player as the Premier League club begin talks with Barcelona.

Sport have reported on Tuesday morning that United and Barca are officially speaking about the winger and though there are differences in valuation between the clubs, common ground will quickly be found.

United’s opening offer was around €27m and Barca want €30m, with a compromise likely to see the English outfit pay a fee in that region up front and close to €6m in bonuses.

Louis Van Gaal, the United manager formerly of Barca, has asked the people at Old Trafford responsible for transfers to deliver Pedro as soon as possible, Sport add.

Pedro is likely to play in the Joan Gamper Trophy match at Camp Nou this week as a way of saying goodbye to the supporters.

Van Gaal wants Pedro available for United’s Champions League play-off games later in August, having accepted it will be impossible for the Spain international to play in the first League game of the season, against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

Pedro’s agent isn’t yet involved in talks about the move with only the clubs speaking, while Luis Enrique doesn’t want Pedro to go but has accepted that, with the player keen on making the switch, the price is a good one for the club.
