Roma accelerate Adriano pursuit?

Roma will reportedly accelerate their pursuit of Adriano this week, despite Barcelona making it clear that the defender is not for sale.

The Brazilian has spent the majority of his five-year career at Camp Nou as a squad player, and Marca claims the Giallorossi are ready to make one final push for his services.

However, the newspaper adds that Luis Enrique has so far blocked the player from leaving, instead telling interested parties to meet his €90m release clause.

Nonetheless, Adriano – whose contract with Barca expires in 2017 – is understood to have agreed personal terms with Roma, a three-year deal worth €4m per annum.

The 30-year-old’s departure would leave only Dani Alves and Jordi Alba as the club’s fit and recognised full-backs, with Aleix Vidal ineligible until January and Douglas Pereira out for two months.

Barca and Roma are due to vie for the Gamper Trophy on Wednesday.
