Report: Madrid to move for Ceballos

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to move Real Betis starlet Dani Ceballos, who is at a contractual impasse with his club.

Marca report Los Blancos want to sign the teenager and loan him back to Betis for a season or possibly two, and send Marco Asensio there too.

Ceballos’ signing would be part of the policy of picking up talented youngsters, the same approach that led Madrid to take Asensio from Real Mallorca, sign Martin Odegaard, and be strongly linked with Real Zaragoza’s Jesus Vallejo.

Betis and Ceballos’ representatives agreed in April a new deal for the player but nothing was signed and, despite Ceballos signing professional terms with Betis earlier in July, his future at the club is in the air.

The Primera new boys believe Ceballos’ escape clause was automatically raised from €3m to €12m when he put pen-to-paper but Ceballos’ representatives dispute that, arguing the clause remains at €3m.

Marca note that Betis sporting director Eduardo Macia was made aware that Ceballos was being offered to other teams after his impressive European Under-19 Championship performances for Spain.

Betis want to renew Ceballos’ contract, and have done since he broke into the first team, but may be able to hold on to him until 2017 if an agreement isn’t reached by raising his salary, as the terms of a deal between the LFP and the AFE.

Los Blanquiverdes are also aware of Madrid’s interest in Ceballos and Madrid could make Betis an offer that prevents the situation going to court, as it could if Betis and Ceballos’ representatives can’t agree on the status of his release clause.
