Ceballos contract renewal ‘close’

Dani Ceballos has signed senior terms with Real Betis, who still want to extend his contract with an agreement ‘close.’

ABC de Sevilla report Ceballos put pen to paper on a professional deal with his club prior to travelling with the squad to Germany.

Betis insisted Ceballos signed the deal or not travel and, after the first proposal was rejected, the 18-year-old eventually signed up.

The club feels that Ceballos signing means his release clause is automatically raised from €3m to €12m even though his contract hasn’t been renewed or extended.

Ceballos’ current deal runs until 2016 and his representatives argue he could still leave for €3m, despite having also had his wages increased.

Betis and Ceballos’ representatives have previously agreed on a new deal for the player that would see his pay go from €100,000 [prior to signing professional terms] to €700,000, and his release clause set between €12m and €15m.

The club are trying to tie down Ceballos’ representatives to finalise the new contract but have been unable to do so and the Betis hierarchy are said to be tired of the agents, but not the player, who is commended for his good work this summer.
