Abdennour: I’m ready to join Barca

Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Barcelona after revealing his desire to play “for the best team in the world”.

The 25-year-old garnered a long list of admirers following his performances in helping the Principality side to the Champions League quarter-finals last season, but he has now confessed that he only wants La Blaugrana and urged both clubs to discuss a transfer.

“I’m ready to play for Barca,” he told Sport.

“I’m a very competitive player and I believe that I meet the conditions for success.

“My President [Dmitry Rybolovlev] told me I could join a big club, but if a big team don’t want me then I won’t leave.

“I’d like to play for the best team in the world, Barcelona, but it’s not my decision, it’s Monaco’s.

“I don’t know if Barca have called my President, or if someone on their behalf has, but I’d like an agreement to be reached.

“I want to join Barca but the one who decides is the [Monaco] President.

“For me, waiting until January wouldn’t be a problem. If the two clubs can reach an agreement, I’d be delighted to accept [Barca’s offer].

“The two clubs should discuss [a transfer] and find a solution that suits everyone.

“[Lionel] Messi, Neymar, [Dani] Alves, [Andres] Iniesta, Luis Suarez … They’re all great players. They’re extraordinary.”
