‘Pedro would be difficult, but…’

Frans Hoek has hinted that Manchester United are interested in Pedro Rodriguez but admits signing the Barcelona forward would be “very difficult”.

The 27-year-old has been tipped to leave Camp Nou after growing unhappy with a lack of first-team football in the presence of the ‘MSN’, and Louis van Gaal’s assistant refused to dismiss the speculation linking the Red Devils with the player.

“Pedro? We’ll see, many things can happen in the world of football, but it’s very difficult,” he was quoted as saying by Sport after Uniteds 3-1 win against Barca on Saturday.

“[On Victor Valdes’ exile from United], I don’t like to talk about negative things. Valdes is a great goalkeeper and I’m sure he’ll find a great team for next season.

“[David de Gea] is working with us at the moment, so he’s still ours.”
