Correa: I’m good enough for Atleti

Angel Correa has insisted that he is good enough to stake his claim at Atletico Madrid after scoring in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Numancia.

The Argentine forward, who spent last season recovering from heart problem, scored Atleti’s second goal against the Segunda side, and he hopes to continue proving his worth to Coach Diego Simeone, with 2015-16 firmly in his sights.

“I’m very happy [about my performance against Numancia],” he said after the game.

“It was our first game [of pre-season] and we won it. We’re doing well in pre-season and the whole team are feeling fine.

“I’m at Atletico’s level since I’m here with the team. If I wasn’t, I certainly wouldn’t be here.

“It’s true that the new players are adapting to Atleti’s style of play very well and quickly.

“Those already in the squad have helped us a lot to make this happen.

“[On a loan move away], I’m still here. I’m very happy at Atletico and not thinking about anything other than playing here.

“For now, all the players [in the squad] have to keep working hard because the season hasn’t started yet.

“[Filipe Luis] is a player that I don’t know because I wasn’t with him last season, but he’s a great player and I’m sure he can contribute a lot to the team. His arrival would be very good news.”
