‘Casillas’ exit wasn’t normal’

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes there was something amiss about the way Iker Casillas left Real Madrid.

Casillas joined Porto earlier in the summer and Pellegrini, who worked with the goalkeeper during his time on the Santiago Bernabeu bench, has spoken about the move ahead of a pre-season friendly between City and Madrid.

“It wasn’t a normal departure for a player who had been there so long,” he said, AS reports.

Pellegrini also reflected on his time at the club, revealing he looks back fondly upon his year in the hot seat.

“It’s always special to face Madrid. I had great support from the fans and I have a lot of friends there,” the ex-Villarreal and Malaga trainer continued.
