‘Ramos is focused on Madrid’

Jesus Navas says Sergio Ramos’ head hasn’t been turned by interest from Manchester United and his focus is on Real Madrid.

Navas and Ramos came through the ranks together at Sevilla and the winger was asked about his friend’s future after Manchester City beat Roma in a friendly in Australia.

“He’s a great friend, a great player, and I wish the best for him always,” Navas began, AS reports.

“He’s at a great club and I don’t know what will happen. I’m focused on my team. I haven’t talked to him about it. We were together at a friend’s wedding.

“We enjoyed the summer and I think right now he is focused on Madrid. He’s a great professional. I don’t know if he’ll be at Madrid long-term. You’ll have to ask him.

“I want what’s best for him, that he’s happy where he is.”

Navas was also asked about Iker Casillas’ exit from Santiago Bernabeu, the prospect of playing Madrid this summer, and his own future.

“Casillas is a great goalkeeper, we all know that. The decision was the best for him, he’s always been at a high level,” he continued.

“Madrid are a great opponent. These games will help the formation of the team. It’s a hard game, and will be handy for preparing for the Premier League.

“I’m focused on my team. I try to do things right and to enjoy it.”
