Stuani to join Middlesbrough

Espanyol striker Christian Stuani is expected to complete his €3m switch to Middlesbrough by Tuesday.

However, AS claims Los Periquitos will only receive €300,000 as they only own half of the striker’s playing rights and still owe Italian club Reggina – who own the other 50 percent – €1.2m from his original transfer to Catalonia in 2012.

Stuani was Espanyol’s second top goalscorer last season with 12 goals in La Liga, behind only former captain and Al Rayyan new boy Sergio Garcia.

Middlesbrough, meanwhile, are on the lookout for a new No 9 following the departures of Patrick Bamford and Jelle Vossen.
