Athletic Bilbao have released Gaizka Toquero on a free transfer by mutual consent after seven years at the club.
The 30-year-old was signed by Joaquin Caparros in 2008 and went on to make 207 appearances for the Basques, scoring 25 goals.
However, his star faded in recent seasons, with the likes of Aritz Aduriz arriving and Inaki Williams emerging from the youth set-up.
Consequently, Athletic have allowed Toquero to seek pastures new, despite the player having another year left on his contract.
The likes of Mirandes, Oviedo and former side Alaves are understood to be keen on Toquero, but Leganes are expected to win the race for his signature.
