Official: Guidetti joins Celta

Celta Vigo have completed the signing of former Manchester City striker John Guidetti on a free transfer.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Galicians after passing a medical on Friday and will be presented by the club on Sunday at 11:00 CET.

Guidetti began his career at City but made his name via loan spells at Feyenoord in 2011-12 and Celtic last season, scoring 35 goals over both campaigns.

However, he failed to break into the English giants’ first team and was subsequently allowed to leave upon the expiry of his contract in June.

In the meantime, he represented Sweden at the recent European Under-21 Championship and helped his country win the tournament for the first time in their history.

Celta, meanwhile, end their search for a new striker, prompted by the imminent departure of Joaquin Larrivey to Norwich City.
